Dagile event: how to start a career in web development

Join a free event on Wednesday 13 October to learn more about digital careers, with pizza and networking to follow.

On October 13 2021, Dagile will host the first in a series of in-person “Breakthrough Events”. These will teach attendees different methods, options and skills when considering a career in tech. They are perfect for anyone who is considering moving their career in a new direction or developing skills for their business.

Our first event will focus on Web Development, with a talk covering 4 topics:

The pieces of the puzzle

This segment covers a brief history of aspects of the internet and explains how roles and responsibilities emerge from the needs of the web.

Natural talent or learned skill

This segment will present a journey of becoming a web developer and various talents and skills that will benefit along the way.

Finding a good fit

This segment will look at a mix of job roles to understand how and why the industry places value on them in a business context. What makes one coder different from another?

Can I start small?

This segment breaks down technical topics and commonly cited terms such as WordPress or HTML and presents them as transferable skills, so that the student can recognise how easy it is to get started and how valuable it can be.

Speaker

Our speaker will be Amin Rahman, who has over 10 years’ experience with organisations ranging from fast-paced market-entry startups to established or pivoting global companies. Often working with company founders, Amin has insights into the ethos behind the creative and tech sectors that is often missing in today’s business education. Amin has also witnessed many new routes into these worlds that were not previously available. He is passionate about encouraging people to explore what creative and technology skills mean to them and their careers.
