A look back at our fun virtual showcase of diverse Croydon Tech at last week's event.
Why Croydon?
Last week we hosted our first ever virtual event for London Tech Week with a PechaKucha-style showcase of Croydon’s tech scene, and boy was it a fun gig.
We’re London’s fastest-growing tech cluster with over 2,000 tech businesses – and so we want to shout that from the rooftops and show anyone considering a move to the borough all the good stuff that’s happening here.
After an official opening from the Mayor of Croydon (herself a member of our tech community) we launched into an action-packed afternoon offering a tasting platter of Croydon tech to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds. The council’s Chief Digital Officer, Neil Williams kicked things off by painting a picture of Croydon and what we have to offer here culturally, along with high level stats on the local tech scene, its variety and USP (“actual community spirit”). He also talked about the digital work the council is doing, and how the council can help if you’re considering to relocate or start up in Croydon now or in the future.
Our Speakers
It was then over to some of Croydon’s finest tech movers and shakers to give us the lowdown on the day-to-day tech they’re building to make our lives easier, everything from AI, VR, AR, Chatbots and much more. We also got a sneak preview of things that are currently in development which was pretty exciting!
A massive thank you to our speakers from Sussex Innovation Centre, Home Office, Superdrug, TMRW Tech Hub, Land Registry, Uniqodo, Limitless-VR and Blackthorn GRC – we really couldn’t have showed off Croydon so well without you.
We had a good turnout and the event was a success in making attendees more aware of the tech work that we’re all doing here.
