Croydon internet radio station wins FM licence

Our local community station won one of only 6 FM licences handed out by regulator Ofcom.

Local internet legends Croydon FM have received a coveted FM licence, which means you’ll soon be able to tune in and hear them on your radio. We at Croydon Digital are big fans of the station and what it’s done for our borough, and this licence is a well-earned reward for their amazing work.

The licence was awarded for the great work Croydon FM does for young people across the borough, with a daily line up that includes music and discussions about mental health and life aspirations. Live shows are run by volunteers, offering them a much-needed step into the broadcasting industry.

Croydon FM is based in St George’s Walk and has recorded over 1000 live shows so far. The company behind the radio station, Croydon FM CIC, was founded in 2018 by Clive Campbell, a local resident and DJ.

A station spokesperson said:

We are truly grateful with Ofcom’s decision. Needless to say we are proud of our team who have dedicated their time and effort in pushing Croydon FM to where it is today.

Having accomplished such an achievement as an Internet-only service in just under 2 years, is a clear demonstration of the hard work and enthusiasm which has gone into building Croydon FM – against all odds.

This is about creating opportunities, inspiring the next generation of Social Entrepreneurs and leaving a long-lasting legacy.

The team’s impact was recognised at the Mayor of Croydon Civic Awards in 2018 with a ‘Business in the Community’ award.

The station is supported by 40 volunteers and is always on the lookout for new members. If you’d like to try your hand at writing, presenting or producing please email contact@croydonfm.com

You can also get in touch with them if you’ve got a project in the community that you want to shout about!
