Can you help prepare the employees of the future?

Rainmaker (a partner working with Croydon Council) and ELSA (a community interest company that empowers young people through skills development) will be running a “Get Work Ready” event for Year 9 students at Harris Academy Purley on the 3rd July…. and we need some help.

Last year we ran the same event at Woodcote school with support from Croydon Council and local employers in Croydon. This year we’re looking for support again, and want to reach out to some of our peer SME organisations through Croydon.Digital.

ELSA’s “Get Work Ready” is a day of hands-on events that brings students and businesses together with the aim of introducing students to the application processes used by businesses, allowing them a real glimpse into just what it is that employers look for when recruiting.

The day includes a variety of team and individual activities which is great fun and provides a chance for local employers to get involved in what is an incredibly rewarding experience …and you never know, a future star employee of yours could be at the event!

As a volunteer, you can be involved in a number of ways:

• Could you take on the role of interviewer, providing constructive feedback and positive advice?

• Could you run a scenario with students based around how your company addresses and overcomes challenges? Maybe give them a challenge to deal with which teaches them to apply real-world work skills like problem-solving and teamwork?

• Are you an inspirational speaker with a positive message that will help inspire and encourage students to pursue their goals?
