Tech Stack brings a buzz to Croydon’s DevOps community
A write-up of the first Tech Stack event, with discussions on 'Protecting your IP' and ‘What should wake you up at night?
The inaugural Tech Stack Croydon event was hosted by Sussex Innovation Centre on 30 April 2019. After a buzz of anticipation, this well-attended event saw software development and operations people from around the area in full flow. They discussed a range of topics and were keen to learn and engage with other DevOps engineers.
Once South London’s tech-savvy code and infrastructure crowd had shared stories and made new connections, the main event started with talks from Senior Operations Engineer Bob Walker and Jacqueline Watts, Head of A City Law Firm.
Jacqueline was first up and started off by discussing the topic of ‘Protecting your IP’. She opened up the floor to questions which led to some lively debate and differing viewpoints, mainly on the legal aspects of ‘ownership’ in a DevOps environment.
After we’d had a moment to catch our breath and a well-earned top up of refreshments, the arrival of food and some more networking, we sat down to listen to our second talk of the evening from Bob.
Bob’s fascinating, insightful and thought-provoking discussion about ‘What should wake you up at night?’ really hit the spot with the audience and sparked a series of diverse questions which were expertly answered. I think everyone left the room with a great deal more knowledge on the subject than when they arrived.
Once Bob had enlightened us, the discussions and networking continued into the night with more refreshments.
Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope that you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. It was great to see such a vibrant tech community alive and well in Croydon. Let’s keep the momentum going and develop Tech Stack Croydon into the best DevOps community out there.
