“A truly digital council and borough” – Croydon’s bold new digital strategy is live

The new digital strategy got the official approval at the council's Cabinet meeting on 8 July 2019.

Please take a look at the shiny new strategy here (html) or here (PDF). [Edit 7/12/21: the strategy is no longer current and the html version has therefore  been archived].

We’re incredibly proud of it. It sets a clear direction for the work the council’s digital service will do in the next 5 years, in collaboration with colleagues and external partners, to digitally enhance our borough and transform the council’s systems and services. Having consulted widely, we’re confident it reflects what residents, businesses and council colleagues told us is important.

It’s accompanied by a live roadmap, which shows the detail of what we’re working on now, next and later. This is an early version of the roadmap, and it currently reflects legacy commitments and work-in-progress. You can expect it to evolve quickly over the coming months, to become more outcome-focused and better prioritised, as we get ourselves into shape to deliver the commitments in our new strategy.

LET THE DELIVERY COMMENCE! The strategy marks exactly 9 months since I started in this role (quite possibly the fastest 9 months in my life!) Having reached this major milestone, our focus from here on in is delivery, delivery, delivery. We have a lot of important work to do. And it’s going to be a lot of fun.

We’ll be hiring for agile delivery managers, product managers, service designers and more to ensure this work is delivered using the user-centred methods that are well established in the tech industry and in central government. Keep an eye on our jobs page if this sounds like something you want to be part of.
